A huge well done to all of year 6 for an absolutely terrific performance evry morning, afternoon and evening this week! I know that everyone has thoroughly enjoyed it and is so proud of you!

Sports Day

Thank-you to Miss Johnson for a fabulous day at the field. Well done to the Blue team, who came first place and a huge well done to all those who took part! It was a great day because all the children in years 5 and 6 made it that way with super attitudes and bag fulls of team spirit!

Diary entry for Beth (highwayman)

Dear diary,

It was very early in the dark damp hours of August 3rd. As soon as i woke up the first thing that came into my head was the highwayman. I rushed down stairs to see what the day would bring. I waited at the window for hours on end but then gave up and went back to bed as i knew he would not come untill night.

I was sitting reading, but then an ugly, horrible looking man came into the room. At first i did not recognise him but then it turned out to be Tim! The way he looked at me made my body tingle( urgh, it was horrible) But luckily he only came in for some water.

Soon after that, i ran back upstairs to see if my highwatman had arrived. Of course, for my luck he was not there. Disappointed, i though he was never going to some. Tense, i waited at my bedroom window.

The 9.00pm came and i heard the hoofs of his horse. Excited, i saw my brave man ride up to my house. I heard a quiet, elegant tap on my dusty, old window, and there he was with lace at his chin and boots up to his thigh. Ohh how rich he looked!

Then he said, “One kiss my bonny sweetheart i’m after a prize tonight, but i shall be back with a yellow gold before the morning light.” Then i let down my plat and he kissed it and he rode off. That was the last i saw of him that night. I really do hope he’s ok.

Ladakh

For the past few weeks in 6AV we have been concentrating on Ladakh, one of the coldest deserts in the world. Lots of children created different presentations about Ladakh. Highway men

Year 6 have been enjoying reading The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes.

The highwayman wore lace and silk and wore a mask to hide his identity. Highwaymen used to hide in bushes in the dead of night so that when the rich passed they could rob all of their money!

The Wiz

I thought The Wiz was an amazing, exciting production. My favourite character was the Scarecrow and my favourite part was when the disco balls were turned on and streaks of light appeared, children were trying to grab them.

Amazing! When the witch died it made a big bang. I looked back at Jade.L and she was so shocked. The disco ball was magical the lights were on my knee, fantastic!

Fantastic! I thoughT the show was amazing! The scare-crow was my favourite character and his dancing was awsome, at one point I couldn’t take me eyes off him! Considering Dorothy was young(about 16) she was brilliant. The costume makings were great and all the character’S dancing was cool, it was like they were looking in a mirror as they were all in time with eachother.

Murder Mystery Maths

Year 6 have been challenging their thinking by tackling some rather tricky maths problems since half term. Murder Mysteries required children to use measures to find suspects to the crimes, whilst Miss Cunningham came in to school and challenged us all with boxes full of puzzles and problems. It’s been great fun…check out the photos…
